Initial Psychiatric Evaluation

I view our first few visits as a consultation period to explore what is bringing you into care, to complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, and to have collaborative conversation about next steps. I approach diagnostic evaluation with an appreciation for the benefits of diagnosis while also honoring its limitations. Diagnoses may offer a shared framework and language around your experience; this may be very helpful for some, while it can feel inaccurate or pathologizing for others. Similarly, medications can sometimes be helpful, while sometimes not.

We will work together to come up with a care plan that is individualized and best fits you; this may include evidence-based medication options, de-prescribing, specific therapy modalities, and non-medication related recommendations. Whether our work together includes therapy or medications, I believe a trusting relationship is integral to your care.

Psychotherapy

I focus on psychotherapy with the option to integrate medication when needed. I believe therapy is an opportunity to increase self-understanding and connect with your own inner wisdom. Together, we will explore your emotions, narratives, and obstacles that may be keeping you stuck in patterns that are no longer serving you. We will strive to find a balance between acceptance and change in this process. My intention is to walk alongside you through both uncertain and expansive times, offering practical skills and an attuned, steady presence. My hope is that through this work you deepen your capacity to be present and in relationship with your emotions, and to cultivate the freedom to make choices that align with who you are.

I received training in supportive psychotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) modalities during my psychiatry residency training at the University of Washington. Since completing residency, I've pursued training in Internal Family System Therapy, and I continue to seek consultation from peers and mentors.

I offer therapy virtually and in person, either at my office or in Seward Park. I highly encourage meeting in person. I typically meet with therapy clients every week, though frequency can be adjusted to match your needs.

Medication Management

I have a small number of slots available for individuals who are already working with a therapist and/or are interested in medication management only. We will work together to discuss medication options, including potentially de-prescribing. It is most important that any decisions we make around medications are aligned with your goals.

I offer both in person and virtual appointments. I typically meet with medication management patients every month to every few months; the cadence of appointments will shift to meet you where you are. Please inquire about availability of medication-focused treatment if this is your primary goal.

Service Limitations

NOTE: Due to the limitations of my practice, there are certain services I am not currently providing. These include: child/adolescent services, ADHD assessments, disability evaluations, forensic evaluations, Labor & Industries assessments (L&I), court-ordered treatment; or assessments for work, child custody, emotional support animals or weapon ownership.
